HI, Thanks for the info.. Do you know anything about the "supioro" locality? Just got a captive bred one but can't find any info on the snake or the Island aside from its' location. If memory serves well it's the little island above or "superior " to Biak. Hope you can help and thanks!

I am going down to Texas to go snake hunting this week. Not a collector, just like to catch and photo snakes. Looking especially for hognose. Where do you think I should go and are there any animals that I should really worry about?Like hogs, coyotes, etc. Is it a good idea to carry a shotgun in the bush or will I have a problem with law enforcement? And should I just road cruise at night? I did that in Florida and Park Ranger gave me a hard time. Thanks.

I actually used the cables I did because there wasn't anything else available at the time. The reptile cables came along later and will work so long as they don't have the in-built thermostat you mentioned in your question. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Hey Damon, would a standard reptile heat cable work in place of the frost cable? Like a 25w rated 4 metre cable from zoo med or whatever? I live in the uk and most frost cables seem to have an inbuilt thermostat, and obviously i want to avoid the issue of using a cable designed for the US in the UK (different pin connectors/US v UK voltage system etc). So was just wondering as you dont seem to use reptile designated cables, is there a reason for that? Thanks Gary

Thanks for the how-to! I'm building an incubator for a clutch of Burmballs due any day, and we are SO excited!! The one I'm building is an amalgamation of yours and several others, so I'm looking forward to seeing how well it works. Keep up the great work!! :)

@MrCites1 ...I'd love to see pictures. For years there were claims but no one's ever been able to provide any substantiated proof. Since I hatched mine in 2002 no one's been able to refute that it wasn't the first... I'd love to hear about the one you're referring to.

I saw another video where the dude filled the PVC frame with water and used that as his thermal mass. That would give you more room for egg boxes.

I have several spider robotics thermostats but they're on my cages. I've never used them on the incubator. The helix basic units have never failed me so I've just continued using them.
